Macabre & Gallery of Horrors Update
Well the "Macabre" exhibit at the Pedway Picture Gallery was a great success from what I heard. We had lots of traffic coming to the display while I was there and I heard that it continued well into 10pm and they didn't close the exhibit at 11pm. I heard on the grapevine that someone said that it was one of the best Nocturne displays yet!
I just want to say a big thank you to all who came to our "Macabre" exhibit this past Saturday. This was my big debut as a curator and I am very delighted with how the display turned out. A big thank you to everyone who worked very hard at promoting the event, we all saw the results of that at the exhibit! To all the photographers who displayed, you all shined like gleaming knights (including myself, if I may be so egotistic to say!) and we really showed everyone who came that we can put on as good a photographic display as the next person.
Congratulations and Bravo to you all!

And coming on October 31st to Veith Street Gallery...
This exhibit was originally going to be the grande finale of the Photopolis Festival, but now has been extended to November 3rd. At the October 31st debut, we'll have prizes, a slideshow event and a "Chamber of Horrors" as well as tasty Halloween snacks and some really creepy and scary music at the reception and party.
Come one come all! It should be a bloody good time!

Macabre update
It's coming next Saturday, a one night only showing of some of the creepy, deathly and spooky pics to come out of our three Gallery of Horrors shoots between July 29th and September 10th. Don't miss it!! It's a warm up to the big "Gallery of Horrors" exhibit coming to Veith Street Gallery on Halloween night 3 to 9pm. I'll have a poster up on this page as soon as it's ready to print!
Visit my "Portraits By Chris" for a sampling of some of the creepiest images I took during the Gallery of Horrors shoots!

Gallery of Horrors update
Hello All Gallery of Horror attendees!
There have been some new developments this past week regarding the Gallery of Horrors displays at The Pedway Picture Gallery and Veith Street Gallery
Before last week, the plan was to have 32 pictures 11x14 matted in a 16x20 mat, but the curator in charge of ordering the mats has suggested instead to have all pictures for the Photopolis Festival (October 1st to 31st) the Pedway Picture Gallery Nocturne "Gallery of Horrors" preview display (October 15th 6pm to midnight) and the main "Gallery of Horrors" display at Veith Street Gallery (October 31st 2pm to 9pm, tenatively) matted in 11x14 frames to fit an 8x10 picture. So, this means that approximately 30 or more of the best pictures resulting from this shoot will be a part of the one day exhibit at Veith Street Gallery, which will be followed by a Halloween costume party. I will be contributing the background music for the shoot, as well as for the reception and party. This exhibit, which I am curating, is the grand finale of the Photopolis Festival. The pictures will be printed out 8x10 instead of 11x14 to save on printing costs.
Here's an album of some ideas I have for a the cemetary shoot, which is scheduled to take place at an eerie cemetary at the top of Victoria Rd across from Tulip Street. It's the one near Dartmouth High School.

Hello!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I received a letter in the mail today from a representative of the IWK Kermesse informing me that I made just short of $800 in raffle ticket sales on the above picture. All proceeds go towards new programs at the IWK.

Meeting Regarding Gallery of Horrors!
I had a meeting yesterday at Veith Street Gallery with some of the interested participants of my upcoming "Gallery of Horrors' photo shoot and it's shaping up to be an awesome event based on some of the ideas people came up with. Among them, merging our photos within some of the photos we're using as inspiration and people voiced their ideas as to what characters they wanted to portray: Vampires, Corpse brides, Gorillas, Psycho shower victims, Mortica or Wednesday from the Addams Family were among what was mentioned.
To voice a concern brought up by one of the interested participants, I've created a forum on my home page for people to communicate their concerns and ideas regarding the upcoming Gallery of Horrors shoot, it can be found in the "Gallery of Horrors" forum page.
Hope to hear from you soon!
In other news...
The "Rise & Shine" exhibit, mentioned in my April 20th blog entry (updated from the original) continues on until June 23rd at Veith Street Gallery, if you haven't already seen it, be sure to take it in before it's over!
Also upcoming, but a bit ways off, is the Phototopolis Festival, in October 2011. The theme for the exhibit (to be curated by one of our CSE Artists) is Abstracts. I, of course, will be participating in this display; showcasing some of my newest abstract images. On the last day of the Festival will be my curated exhibit "Gallery of Horrors" on Halloween day October 31st. 2011.

Was visiting Veith Street Gallery yesterday and found out during a conversation from the curator that my show doesn't end until April 28th. A mistake was made on the poster apparently.
March 30th, 2011
My opening of "Blam & Glam" took place last evening and all and all I would say it was a successful opening. While no prints were sold (I wasn't expecting much in the way of sales) I received a good many compliments on my portraiture and had a good deal of visitors, including friends, former neighbours, cousins, and my Halifax MP.
While the opening is over, the exhibit still runs until April 21st, so if you're in the area of Veith Street Gallery (3rd floor of Veith House, 3115 Veith Street) by all means come and visit. There are business cards and a brochure on the display table with the guest book which you should be sure to comment in before you leave!
A big thank you to all who took in my exhibit last night, you made it a very special event for me!
March 21st, 2011
It's coming soon! All who are interested in Portraiture, by all means attend! It's March 29th between 4 and 7pm at Veith Street Gallery (3115 Veith Street) and runs until April 21st.

I will also be participating in an upcoming display of art at Veith Street Gallery, scheduled for May 31st.

As of today, all news regarding my latest albums postings will be included in my blog section. I have already moved postings from December 3rd and onwards that deal with that . This is to make room for more general news regarding upcoming shows and changes to this website.

According to the latest online edition of Veith Street Gallery's SPIRITSPEAK I received in my e-mail today, my upcoming show of recent Portraiture will be there from March 29th to April 21st..
It was originally planned to include some nature, landscape and still life pictures as well, but that plan was scrapped today to keep my pictures to 30 or so.

I finally got word from Barbara Fickes, who represents the Terry Fox Foundation, that some of the pics I took as a volunteer photographer for the Terry Fox Run at Point Pleasant Park (my first time) on September 19th, have been published on their Facebook site! You can find a link to my pics here:

December 7th - 21st, 2010
In between this time period, I made minor esthetic changes to the website, which include deleting some pictures from my Portraits By Chris section, deleting some header pictures from my "About the Photographer" and placing it within the text. Tweaking the price list for my prints in my "Prices for Prints/Services" section so that it appears more orderly and organized. As well, I inserted a new image of myself into the "Contact Me" header
Finally today, after months of waiting (and searching) I finally came across the main video that 44 Productions made of the Exposure 10 event that I was a "Random pics" photographer of (actually, I was one of three) You can find the entire video (in 2 parts) in my "Portraits by Chris" section

Added columns to better organize my information on my Home, Exhibits and Sales and Prices for Prints/Services pages on my website. I hope you like the changes!
November 17th, 2010
Upon noticing during a talk with a client regarding my portrait print prices, I noticed that I charged $2 more for making 8 x 10 portrait prints than I did for making landscape prints. I decided to change the prices I charge for copies of my landscapes to be the same as the prices for my portrait prints in order to be fair to both clientele. As well, I added 4 x 6 and 16 x 20 print sizes to my portrait prints price list section.
November 16th, 2010
Created a slide show presentations of the two Mentality magazines I appeared in: the Spring and Fall of 2009. Previously they had appeared in a photo gallery and I took new high-res pictures of the covers and articles to increase readability of the poetry/photo section and article about my Artist-in-Residence that appeared in the Fall 2009 issue, which, unfortunately was their last due to a lack of funding.

Renamed "Online Photo Galleries" "Other Web Portfolio Galleries"'
November 12th - 14th 2010
Over the past three days, I have been adding images from my recent photo shoots at Veith Street Gallery on the theme of Film Noir through the decades. You'll find them in my "Portraits By Chris" page , under the "Portraiture By Chris Jackson" section. I've also rewritten my introduction completely to drop all references of "Portraits By Chris" being a business and expanded on my goals in doing these sessions of portraiture.
I have also just enlarged the print size in the "Prices for Prints/Services" page and made clearer the services I provide in "Portraits By Chris"
November 11th, 2010
Added two new slide show albums featuring pics formerly on my "Digital Photography by Christopher Jackson" site. One is "Northwest Arm, Melville Cove and Regatta Point Landscapes 2007-2009", which features a selection of my best landscapes from that period and the other is "Moonshots & multiple exposures 2007-2008" which features some of my early moon shots and multiple exposures, which is the process of taking two separate images and combining them to make a totally new picture, which I did using some of my other moon pics. Both can be found in "My Photographic Journey" Check them out!
I also just recently added a slide show of pictures I took during my "Portraiture by Chris Jackson" showing from last September/October 2009 at Veith Street Gallery under my "Exhibits and Sales" section of this website under the section that features pictures from each of my displays. I organized from beginning to the end to give you an idea what it would have been like had you been there.
November 8th, 2010
I've added an slide show gallery of Winter images I took during the years 2007 and 2009. As well, I've added new sunsets from 2006, 2007 and 2008 to my "Halifax Sunsets 2007-2009"slide show gallery. Check them out out in "My Photographic Journey" section near the bottom of the page. I also deleted an album of pictures I had taken this past June and may re-post them on Facebook at a later date.
November 6th, 2010
I reposted my photo shoots from Dollar Lake (August 22nd) and my PEI vacation (August 4th to 6th) as slideshows on the "My Photographic Journey" section of my website.

Things are changing here at Digital Journeys By Chris Jackson!
The first and most obvious changes are the addition of new pages: "About The Photographer", (where you'll find out all about me!) "Oline Photo Galleries", which list other web spaces that feature photography not seen on this page and "Prices for Prints/Services", which list the prices I charge for the pictures featured in "My Photographic Journey" section and the prices I charge for portraiture sessions in my personal "business" "Portraits By Chris"
As well, you will notice in "My Photographic Journey" section that I've added more albums of photography previously featured on my 1st web page "Digital Photography By Christopher Jackson" which is now defunct due to the joining together of Windows Live Spaces and WordPress. These galleries cover the years 2006 to 2009 and are individually categorized by subject. These albums appear as slide shows and I hope you'll enjoy these glimpses into my early digital photography, I've tried to include only my best!
Watch this space for announcements on my newest galleries as I post them!
